Electronic Clearing System (ECS)
Electronic Clearing System (ECS) is a facility which customers can avail by which the outstanding on the customer’s card account will be directly debited from the customer’s designated bank account on the due date. By availing this facility customer has an option to signup for paying the total dues in his card account through ECS or only his minimum dues or to any other fixed amount as he desire to do so.
All credit card customers are eligible for ECS sign up. By availing this facility customer has an option to signup for paying the total dues in his card account through ECS or only his minimum dues or to any other fixed amount as he desire to do so.

Steps for Registering for ECS Payments
- Download the ECS Mandate Form from www.barclaycard.in
- Complete the Mandate Form. It is important that you enter the Bank Name and Account Number along-with the MICR Code
- A cancelled cheque needs to be submitted along-with the Mandate Form.
- Mail the completed Mandate Form and the cancelled cheque to the Barclaycard Correspondence Address.
- If your Mandate Form has been correctly filled, your registration for ECS Payment will be completed within 15 working days from the date of receipt of your ECS Mandate.
Note: If the ECS Mandate is received 15 days before the date of Statement Generation, then the payment for the next Statement will be done visa ECS, else the payment needs to be arranged by the customer through a different Payment Mode.
Deactivation of ECS Mandate
The customer may want to deactivate ECS either temporarily or permanently. In either case he needs to call up the Barclaycard Customer Service Helpline.
ECS can be deactivated only if the request has been received at least 11 working days in advance of the customer’s payment due date for the current month. If the customer wishes to reactivate ECS, he needs to call up the Barclaycard Customer Service Helpline again. Automatic re-activation of ECS Mandate is not possible. If the customer wishes to reactivate ECS with the same details, a fresh ECS mandate is not required. However, if he wishes to change any ECS details, he would need to send in a fresh mandate.

1. What is Electronic Clearing System (Debit)?
Electronic Clearing System was introduced by Reserve Bank of India to provide faster and repetitive payments by directly debiting customer’s accounts thereby minimising paper transactions and increasing customer satisfaction.
2 How ECS is different from the existing system?
As per the existing system, Barclaycard customers are required to make Credit card payments by either issuing cheques or through cash at the collection centres. Whereas, in ECS there is no cash transaction or payment through cheques.
3. What is the individual transaction limit under ECS?
Under ECS, there is no limit on the value for individual transaction.
