
Important Information and Useful Tips to Barclaycard members.
- Do not use a cash machine if you notice anyone behaving suspiciously around it or you spot any suspicious device on the machine itself. Report your suspicion to the bank.
- If your card is retained by the cash machine contact your card issuer immediately and block your card.
- Never keep your card and PIN together. Always use a random combination of numbers for your PIN.
- Whenever traveling abroad take the cards you intend to use. Make a note of your card issuers emergency contact numbers and store the information somewhere other than your wallet.
- Make sure you always keep your address up-to-date. This will avoid your financial statements being in the wrong hands.
- Dispose off personal documents such as bill, statements and receipts with care after you have checked the contents. It is advisable to shred them.
- Report lost or stolen cards or suspected fraud to your card issuer immediately. The 24 hour emergency number of your issuer will be behind your Barclaycard above the magnetic stripe.
- Be wary of unprompted phone or email requests asking you to divulge your personal details, PIN or Barclaycard number even if they claim to be from your bank or law enforcement agency.
- Regularly check your statements for unfamiliar transactions.
- Never let your card out of your sight when making a transaction particularly in bars and restaurants.
- Only shop at secure websites whenever you use your card at a secure online retailer. The beginning of the retailer’s internet address should change from "http" to "https".
- Keep record of all your purchases till you receive your Barclaycard statement.
- Do not hand-over your card to anyone even if they claim to be representatives from your Bank and always cut the card plastic in four pieces across the magnetic stripe before disposal.
- Do not provide front and back copies of your plastic card to any unauthorized person.
